When we first arrived our friend's sister and her teenage son, Chris, were still vacationing on the lake. Chris grew up on the lake in the summers and has been water skiing since he was probably in diapers. I was very excited to be able to photograph him wake boarding around the lake attempting to land a flip. He attempted the flip a handful of times and not soon before he had to get in the car and head home, he landed the flip. It was so exciting to watch his determination and perseverance and then complete excitement when he nailed it. I got a bunch of great photos, but here are a couple of my favorites.
Between our friends and us, there are seven kids. They came one after the other over the last 9 years. The first 5 were boys. And then we were both blessed with our little princesses, who are only five months apart. This was a big year for both mommas....neither one pregnant or nursing.
Over the years, it has always been about playing and digging in the sand at the lake. But this year there was an awful lot of fishing going on. The five boys went through many containers of worms. Lots of worms were baited, lots of fish were caught. Thankfully, with all of the rods being casted ...there were no unfortunate hook incidents.
You don't have to be a boy to fish....just look at the two princesses.
There was also lots of boat activity. Chica made her debut in the tube, as did her princess friend.
We also brought along our awesome cousin, CC, because she is the best kid and the best helper in the world and we love her!
More big excitement when Jack got up on skis. He really got the hang of getting himself out of the water. I think he was particular inspired by Chris (above)!
swimming to the dock,
snuggling by the campfire with dad,
It wasn't too tough to take.
