The Season of Lights

Today the challenge was to capture some holiday lights....in bokeh. I played around with my 50 mm lens and I'm not really sure what the trick is, but I was able to capture some cool light blur. Our tree is too big and fat to capture the whole thing. But I capture a piece of it with the reflecting bokeh from the window.

And this one is just plain lights....

I wish it weren't so cold and late or I would try to capture some outdoor lights!

I think the reflection is beautiful. We used to have colored lights on our trees and then I decided that I liked the clear lights better... when our old tree broke, we bought a pre-lit one with clear lights. And now I wish we had colored lights! The grass is always greener, right?

I think the trick is, that the lights are out of focus, and they take on the shape of the lens opening :-)
